University Plaza and Creamery Arts Center Opening Friday!!

HUGE Thank You to all who have helped get these shows together. Wether you were there installing or you sent work in, every effort was appreciated. Thank you! As you can see University Plaza show is full!! Please stop by and check it out as part of your First Friday Art Walk. The Creamery Arts Show will also be opening as part of First Friday so stop on by.

Sunday is our next meeting at Kevin Kloppenbur’s house. We will be working on center pieces for Spring Conference. If you have any work for these please let us know or bring them by. We will start at 1pm.

Things to bring Sunday: -Tape hand sculptures.

-Rolls of clear packing tape. -Hot glue  -Scissors  -Energy  -Enthusiasum  -D10 Awesomeness

Things you can do outside of meetings to help:

We are needing prizes to use for the game show. Anything you can think of would be great…gift certificates, art items….

Wow, that was the fastest hang we’ve ever done!! Thank you all for your help. Now it’s on to Wednesday’s installation at University Plaza Hotel…I’m not gonna lie this one is SCARING me! We have plans, now let’s put them into action. Meet us at University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center any time after 3pm on Wednesday if you can help. This is gonna be another all hands on deck.

You all have been so amazing helping with all the different events Spring Conference has and we can’t thank you more. We are getting down to the wire and all of our hard work will come together for one fantastic event. Thank you from all of MAEA.

Need Some Time Out of the House?

Have all these snow days got you a little stir crazy?? Well join us this Sunday at the Creamery Arts Center! You can spend time making tape sculptures or help hang the show.  You could even have some fun adding embellishments to our tape creations. There is plenty for all to do so bring any one you can and let’s get these two shows ready for First Friday Art Walk.

Join us at 1pm, Jordan Valley Creamery Arts Center 411 N Sherman Pkwy, Springfield 65802. If you have any tape sculptures to add to the show please let me know when we could get them. If you can drop them off I will be in Springfield hanging the Creamery Art Show this Sunday. I will gladly take them at that time. If you want your work back please label (discreetly) the work on a foot. If you are willing to donate the work we are planning to auction them at Spring Conference. Important Dates!

As you can see D10’s been busy!! Thank you to all who have given up their weekend time to help make this show possible. We are almost there! Besides tape people we are also working on tape hands for the center pieces at the luncheons. These do not need to be collected until closer to convention. You can bring your tape hands to our next D10 meeting March 3rd place TBD.

The Creamery Art Show will still take your 2D and 3D pieces if you are able to deliver them to the Creamery this week or during our hanging session Sunday, Feb 24th. Please use the inventory form and bring them in a package of some sort to make taking the show down easier. If you are unable to pick the work up at the end of the show in March then place return postage in your package please!

Sun Feb 24th Hang Creamery Show– If you are able to help please meet us at the Creamery at 1pm. We need HELP!

Wednesday Feb 27th– Install University Plaza tape sculptures starting at 3pm. Once again we need HELP!

March 1st- First Friday Art Walk Creamery Arts Center and University Plaza MAEA Show opening receptions 6pm.

March 3rd– Work on center pieces 1pm place TBD.

Truly without passionate art educators coming together this conference would not be possible. Thank you all for helping and I look forward to seeing all of our hard work pay off in just 5 short weeks!!

One more date; March 15th is the new deadline for Share the Room!

Start now and enter a fun way to share what makes your Art room or Art cart unique or special. Every time an Art teacher visits another Art classroom they always pick up great ideas to use in their own. “SHARE THE ROOM” is a video contest between MAEA members for this Spring Conference. Just take your phone or tablet and video tape a 3-5 minute video of what makes your classroom unique. Then upload it to our YouTube page and members will vote on their favorite at the conference. Creamery Art Show/Meeting Fun Sunday!!

D10 I know our plates have been FULL, but if you could find just one piece to bring to the Creamery we would greatly appreciate it. We need about 20 more pieces for this show and some 3D work. You can drop the work off at Sunday’s meeting or drop the work by the Creamery before we hang the show Feb 24th. Just use the inventory form: Creamery Info. I know we can fill this show, let’s do this!!

What a great turn out last weekend! Thank you all for coming and helping get this show together. Big thanks to Kevin Kloppenburg for allowing us to invade his house and providing such a great atmosphere.

We are 2 weeks from installing the tape sculptures at JQ Hammons Plaza Hotel and hanging the Creamery Art Show….we will be adding some meetings in between the monthly meetings to prepare these show. We will be meeting this week Sunday Feb 17th at 1pm at Cyndi Shepard’s house. If you have any sculptures finished you may drop them off at this time. It is important for us to get a good count on how many sculptures we have to use. Please let me know how many you have russellc@clever.k12.mo.us. You could also drop off your one 2D and one 3D piece for the Creamery Art Show…it’s not too late!

You don’t want to miss the craziness that is a D10 get together! Come mingle and see how far we’ve come in preparing for Spring Conference. Yes even if this is your first time attending we would LOVE to see you. You can even drop off work for the Creamery Arts Show at this meeting, save yourself some shipping. D10 is also welcome to submit sculptural pieces for this show if you are also able to pick the work up following the end of the show. Come on D10 we can make this conference one to remember and then some!

Don’t forget to book your room if you are getting one. MAEA may lose out on rooms if you wait, there is another big conference in town during conference and they are snatching up all hotel rooms from Joplin to Branson…no lie! Don’t wait!
